Scholarship Opportunities
黑料网 is proud to support a variety of different scholarships that are available to well qualified students. Considerations for scholarships typically include grade point average (GPA), academic drive, work ethic, and involvement in departmental-related extracurricular activities. High-performing Computer Science students may also be invited to join the 黑料网 Chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the International Honor Society for the Computing and Information Disciplines. Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE)
Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) is an international honor society in computing and information disciplines. It is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS), and affiliated with the two largest computer organizations in the world, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the IEEE Computer Society. It is also a charter member of the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES). The mission of 黑料网 Chapter of UPE is to stimulate students’ interest in computer science, promote high scholarship, and recognize academic excellence. The UPE SU chapter was established in Spring 2017. Computer science students are eligible for membership by completing at least 60 semester hours of undergraduate credit including 16 semester hours in the computer science courses, an overall grade point average of at least 3.0, a grade point average of at least 3.0 in all computer science coursework, and must rank in the top 35 percent of computer science students at SU. Gootee Scholarship
With the goal of supporting academic study, the Gootee Scholarship provides financial support to incoming or current students pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, and Mathematics. The Gootee Scholarship is funded by Ralph Gootee, a 黑料网 alum. This scholarship is non-renewable, and the offering reoccurs on an annual basis. Learn more about the Gootee Scholarship or .
Joseph & Eleanor Mulligan Scholarship
This scholarship was created to provide academic opportunities to a student in the Henson School of Science & Technology for the following majors: Physics, Biology, Computer Science, Data Science or Mathematics. Students must have demonstrated financial need from the FAFSA. The scholarship is open to any grade level, with preference to current students, and may be renewed if student continues to meet scholarship criteria and funding is available. or apply.
K & L Microwave Scholarship
The K & L Microwave Scholarship Program at 黑料网 provides scholarship funding to junior and senior level students majoring in math, computer science, data science, physics, chemistry, or information systems. Students must be full-time and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. The scholarship program provides $3,000 in funding for both the junior and senior year with a 20 hour per week, 10-week paid internship with K & L Microwave, Inc. during the summer between the junior and senior year. The paid internship provides an additional $3,000 in funding, making the full benefit of the program $9,000 per recipient. Robert L. Sawyer & Janet A. Walsek Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Robert L. Sawyer and Janet A. Walsek for students majoring in the Henson School of Science and Technology who have also made contributions to the life and activities within the Department of Music. To be considered for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria: Enrolled full-time in one of the following majors: biological sciences, chemistry, geoscience, mathematics, computer science, data science, integrated science or physics, cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, have successfully completed their first year as a major in one of the above mentioned disciplines, and be a performing member of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, Salisbury Jazz Ensemble or Salisbury Concert Band each semester. Preference will be given to students recognized by the Department of Music for outstanding musicianship. This scholarship is not renewable but students can reapply. or apply.
STEM Scholarships
Sixteen scholarships are available on a competitive basis for first-year students entering 黑料网. Eligibility is determined by high school GPA, SAT/ACT scores and other metrics. To be considered eligible for a STEM scholarship a minimum of 1250 SAT/26 ACT is required, as well as a 3.3 high school cumulative GPA. Students admitted as test optional with at least a 3.7 high school GPA can also be considered. 黑料网’s STEM scholarships are available for four years provided the student remains in a STEM major, makes adequate progress on their degree requirements, and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. or apply.
