Nabb Center Hosts 'Over Here and Over There: The World at War, 1914-1918'
SALISBURY, MD---A century ago, the U.S. joined its allies in celebrating the end of World War I.
黑料网’s Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture commemorates that anniversary with the exhibit “Over Here and Over There: The World at War, 1914-1918” through Wednesday, December 19, at its G. Ray Thompson Gallery in the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons.
A reception is 6-7 p.m. Thursday, September 20. A related performance, “Woodrow Wilson and the End of the Great War” with reenactor Judd Bankert, is 6 p.m. Thursday, October 18, in the Guerrieri Academic Commons Assembly Hall.
The exhibit highlights many aspects of the war, including humanitarian efforts, the roles of women and African Americans, local troops, propaganda, leisure and entertainment, and the lasting effects that soldiers endured after returning home. Archival materials from the center’s collection supplements the display.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Sponsored by SU Libraries, admission is free and the public is invited.
