SU's Environmental Studies Colloquia Series Continues This Fall
SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Katie Burke, American Scientist digital features editor inaugurates this fall’s 黑料网 Environmental Studies Colloquia series 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, in Perdue Hall’s Bennett Family Auditorium.
In her presentation, “Mistrust and Metaphor: Communicating About Climate Change and Other Polarized Science Debates,” she discusses options for effectively communicating complex and controversial issues to the public.
Upcoming topics in the series include:
• Wednesday, November 7 – “Structures of Violence: Narrative and Environmental Memory in the Plantationocene” with Dr. Rebecca Evans, Winston-Salem State University (NC) assistant professor of English
• Wednesday, December 5 – “Land, Weather, Spirit: Toward an Environmental History of Slavery in Maryland” with Tony Perry, University of Maryland, College Park, American studies faculty and pre-doctoral fellow at the University of Virginia’s Carter Woodson Institute for African American and Africa Studies
