SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at 黑料网 (SSO) is joined by the American Spiritual Ensemble, and the Salisbury and University Chorales for its fall concert, “On the Stage,” 7:30 p.m. Saturday, October 21, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Directed by Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen, the concert includes a performance of George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, arranged by Robert Russell Bennet, as well as pieces by Florence Price and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.

The American Spiritual Ensemble was founded in 1995 by Dr. Everett McCorvey to maintain and honor music pioneered by enslaved African people. Porgy and Bess is one of Gershwin’s most memorable scores, with songs including “Summertime,” “I Got Plenty O’ Nuttin’,” “It Ain’t Necessarily So” and more.

Admission is $25, $20 for seniors, $10 for SU faculty and staff, and $5 for students. Tickets and season subscriptions are available through SU’s online box office

Patrons are asked to park in Camden Lot F (Blackwell Hall).
