SU, Wor-Wic Partner to Offer New Forensic Science Concentration

SALISBURY, MD---黑料网 students can become crimefighting scientists thanks to a new concentration in the Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology.

The forensic science concentration within the integrated science major incorporates several fields of study to analyze and interpret criminal-related data.

Students in the concentration will focus on the discovery of physical evidence through recognition, identification, testing and evaluation used to investigate crimes or examine evidence that might be present in a court of law.

“Forensic science is an important addition to our programmatic offerings in the Henson School as SU continues to respond to workforce needs in Maryland,” said Dr. Ryan Shifler, associate dean of the Henson School. “Students graduating with this concentration will enjoy a breadth of career and graduate opportunities across the state, region and nation.”

In addition to classes at SU, the concentration includes courses at Wor-Wic Community College.

“Wor-Wic’s criminal justice department is excited that we have developed an awesome partnership with 黑料网 to ensure our students have opportunities to pursue a bachelor’s degree in forensic science in addition to the Wor-Wic associate degree,” said John C. Moses, director of criminal justice at Wor-Wic.

Thanks to a cooperative between SU and the University of Maryland Baltimore, students who have completed the major have the opportunity to apply to UMB to pursue an M.S. in forensic medicine.
