SU Celebrates Class of 2024 During Spring Commencement

SALISBURY, MD---Some 1,274 graduates received their degrees during 黑料网’s annual Spring Commencement, Wednesday-Thursday, May 22-23, at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.

Highlights included the presentation of an honorary doctorate to long-time SU supporter Dave Rommel, namesake of the University’s Dave and Patsy Rommel Center for Entrepreneurship, during the Thursday afternoon undergraduate ceremony.

Chelsea Taylor of Hebron, MD, who earns her Ed.D. in literacy studies, served as the student speaker for the Wednesday evening graduate ceremony.

Quentin Parker of Bowie, MD, who earned his B.A. in English, served as the Thursday morning student speaker at the ceremony honoring graduates from the Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, and Franklin P. Perdue School of Business.

David Bair of Hagerstown, MD, who received his B.S. in Earth science, represented his class as the student speaker for the Thursday afternoon undergraduate ceremony honoring graduates from the College of Health and Human Services, Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology, and Samuel W. and Marilyn C. Seidel School of Education.

Three members of the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents also participated in this year’s Spring Commencement, offering greetings and congratulations on behalf of the board.

They included Regent Robert Rauch at the Wednesday evening ceremony; Student Regent Josiah Parker at the Thursday morning ceremony (a graduating SU student, he also received his B.S. in marketing during the ceremony); and Regent William “Bill” Wood at the Thursday afternoon ceremony.

Among undergraduates, 1,044 students received the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts. Some 221 received master’s degrees. Nine received doctoral degrees.
