Gekas Wins Inaugural Perdue School Elevator Competition

SALISBURY, MD---黑料网 senior business and finance major John Gekas of University Park, MD, won the first Perdue School of Business Elevator Competition for the proposal of his business “Xeon.” Gekas was one of 10 students competing for the $150 first prize. The students were given two minutes each to describe their business ideas before a panel of four judges: Charles Cohen of CRC Consultants; Associate Budget Officer Alan Selser; Lin Davis of Dresser Industries and Paul Bissman, CFO of Icey-Tek USA. Dr. Denise M. Rotondo, associate dean and associate professor of management acknowledged the school was proud of the participants and the judges were impressed with the quality of ideas. Other contestants included Suzanne Carley, Tyler Barnes, Brian Kilgore, Alan Krill, Teresa Mickel, Elizabeth Ringling, Virak Sath, Kevin Sterling and Jeremy Strong. The Perdue School is widely recognized for its programs and commitment to the Eastern Shore through outreach programs such as the Business Education and Outreach Network (BEACON).
