James Turner Johnson speaks on April 16

SALISBURY, MD---One of the nation's foremost thinkers in the "Just War" tradition speaks Wednesday, April 16, at 黑料网. Dr. James Turner Johnson, a faculty member in the departments of Religion and Political Science at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, talks on "Justifying the Use of Armed Force: The Just War Idea and the Iraq Debate," at 7 p.m. in the Guerrieri University Center's Wicomico Room.

Johnson's research and teaching focus on the historical development and application of moral traditions related to war, peace and the practice of statecraft. His latest books, Morality and Contemporary Warfare and Just War and Jihad: Historical and Theoretical Perspectives on War and Peace in Western and Islamic Traditions, deal with cross-cultural applications of the just war tradition.

Johnson is co-editor of the Journal of Military Ethics and a trustee and editorial board member of The Journal of Religious Ethics. He has lectured at venues ranging from Harvard University to the U.S. Naval Academy.
