SSO Youth and Collegiate Symphony Orchestra Plays May 12
class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---Comprised of 54 members from the Delmarva area, the Youth and Collegiate Symphony Orchestra holds its spring concert 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12, in Holloway Hall Auditorium at 黑料网.
class=""MsoNormal"">Affiliated with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra (SSO), the youthful ensemble is conducted by Donald Buxton.
class=""MsoNormal"">The orchestra, with a membership consisting of public, private and home-schooled students, performs a variety of classical and popular music. The students range in age from 11 to young adult.
class=""MsoNormal"">Buxton, who acts as interim conductor, is the founder of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and is currently the conductor of the Dover Symphony and managing director of the Eastern Shore Chamber Music Festival.
class=""MsoNormal"">“The kids have been working hard and are an absolute delight to direct,” said Buxton. “It's been a most enjoyable year for me, and I hope it has been for them as well. They've made a lot of progress.”
class=""MsoNormal"">Selections include “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” Tchaikovsky’s “Triumphant March,” “The American Frontier,” “The Flight of Apollo 13” and songs from The Wizard of Oz.
class=""MsoNormal"">Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children, $20 for families and may be purchased at the door the evening of the performance. Admission is free for SU ID holders.
