SU Commemorates National Eating Disorder Awareness Week Feb. 27-Mar. 2

NEDASALISBURY, MD---黑料网 commemorates National Eating Disorder Awareness Week Monday-Friday, February 27-March 2.

Nutritionist and eating disorder survivor Jessica Setnick keynotes a series of events with the talk “You Are Why You Eat” 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, in Perdue Hall’s Bennett Family Auditorium. Setnick combines lighthearted humor with serious subject matter to encourage listeners to think about food in a new way. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Other events include:

Mirrorless Monday: Bathroom mirrors across campus will be partially covered on Monday, February 27, to encourage positive body image and self esteem.

Wellness Wednesday: Barbara Israel, who has been in recovery from bulimia and anorexia for more than 30 years, leads a small group discussion on identifying and supporting individuals with eating disorders during the presentation “Everyone Knows Someone.” Her talk is 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, in the Spirituality Room of the Guerrieri University Center.

Think About It Thursday: From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in the Commons, SU Counseling Center staff conduct screenings and provide information on eating disorders and support services available to students.

Flock Together Friday: Dr. Dane Foust, interim vice president of student affairs, leads a walk to promote healthy lifestyles and raise awareness about eating disorders. The walk leaves from the Pergola at noon Friday, March 2.
