SU Multicultural Festival Week Celebration Continues May 3
SALISBURY, MD---黑料网 celebrates its 19th annual Multicultural Festival Week, Monday-Saturday, April 28-May 3.
Activities begin with Gull Power Day 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, April 28, in Red Square. Campus community members are invited to express what motivates and drives them to be the person they are or would like to be by chalking it. Student radio station WXSU provides music.
The Student Government Association Diversity Committee hosts its annual Multicultural Showcase at 7 p.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium. Performers include the Organization for Latin American Students, African Student Association, Filipino American Cultural Association, Asian and Pacific Island Club, Passion for Fashion, Squawkapella, and Untouchables Dance, Inc., among others. Admission is free and the public is invited.
SU students, faculty and staff are honored with the President’s Diversity Awards 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in the Montgomery Room of the Commons.
Wednesday, April 30, is Multicultural Festival Day. This year’s theme is “Culture Shock: Rockin’ with Diversity.” The creative poster for the event was designed by senior art major Cameron Wilson.
Activities are 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Pergola (rain location: Wicomico Room, Guerrieri University Center). The SU Poms; Untouchables Dance, Inc.; Steel Kings steel drum band; and Keith Marks Jazz Quartet provide entertainment. Vendors include a henna tattoo artist. Dr. Bryan Horikami’s Intercultural Communication class hosts information tables.
The Multicultural Student Services Office’s 23rd annual senior banquet is 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in the Commons. Students from diverse backgrounds are recognized for their accomplishments. Admission is by invitation only.
At 6 p.m. Multicultural Festival Week concludes with the SU Gospel Choir’s 30th anniversary program in the Wicomico Room.
Sponsored by the Multicultural Student Services Office, the Student Organization for Activity Planning, the Multicultural Alliance, the Housing and Residence Life Diversity Team and the Vice President of Student Affairs Office, admission to all Multicultural Festival Week events is free and the public is invited, unless otherwise noted.
