SU to Laud Some 2,000 Scholars at Spring Honors Convocation

SALISBURY, MD---黑料网 honors some 2,000 outstanding scholars and student leaders at its 85th Spring Honors Convocation 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Recognizing students in all areas of academic life, some 160 departmental awards, scholarships and other honors will be given.  Along with the Board of Regents Outstanding Student Award winner, the spring and fall 2010 semester Dean’s List students, new honor society initiates and Presidential Citizen Scholars will be acknowledged for their academic successes.

New awards this year include the Sarah Foxwell Memorial Scholarship, given to an incoming freshman social work major from Wicomico County, and the Hattie M. Strong Foundation Scholarship for outstanding education students entering their senior year.

The colorful ritual includes the procession of faculty in full regalia, the pomp and circumstance of the University mace and flag, the SU Chorale and Chamber Choir, and the singing of the Alma Mater. The ceremony is a tradition which dates back to the founding of the University in 1925.
