Writers-on-the-Shore Spring Series Culminates With Author Elam Tuesday, April 12

SALISBURY, MD---黑料网’s spring Writers-on-the-Shore literary series culminates with a reading by author Patricia Elam 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, in the Montgomery Room of the Commons.

After 16 years working as a lawyer and administrative law judge, Elam made a career change to follow two of her passions: writing and teaching. In 2001, she published Breathing Room, a novel about the evolving friendship between two African-American women and the teenager they both cherish.

Today, she teaches writing at Howard University and is a contributor to publications including The Washington Post, Essence and Crisis, as well as journals and anthologies. She has provided commentary for National Public Radio, CNN and the BBC.

Elam holds a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and an M.F.A. from the University of Maryland College Park.
