SALISBURY, MD---This year’s 黑料网 Alumni Association Faculty Appreciation Award winners are “engaging,” “humorous,” “professional” and “willing to help,” according to their former students.
The association honored four with the accolade during SU’s 90th-year Fall Commencement. They include Drs. Mike O’Loughlin, Political Science, of the Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts; Stephen Gehnrich, Biological Sciences, of the Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology; Richard Hoffman, Management and Marketing, of the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business; and Carol Wood, Health and Sport Sciences, of the Samuel W. and Marilyn C. Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies.
“Each year we receive a number of nominations from our alumni,” said Julius Jones, alumni association president. “With so many deserving faculty, it’s not always easy for the committee to select recipients. These faculty members represent the outstanding contributions to the quality education our graduates receive.”
A former student recalled O’Louglin’s “temperament and ability to simply debate the issues. Although I mostly disagreed with Dr. O’Loughlin’s political views, the discussions in his American Government classes stand out in my mind as some of the more engaging moments of instruction and discussion at SU. He was always willing to have a discourse, discuss things and agree to disagree.”
Gehnrich “is a dedicated professor with much knowledge in his area of expertise,” said one former student. “He can bring that knowledge down to an understandable level for this students, and he manages to do all of this in a practical application and humorous way.”
Hoffman “displayed professionalism and charisma in the classroom” said one alumnus. “He never minded questions before, during or after class. He always went the extra mile for his students, both inside and out of the classroom.”
Wood drew similar praise: “If I ever had an academic issue and my advisor was busy, she was more than willing to help me out. Also, if I had personal problems and needed someone to talk with, Dr. Wood was there to provide guidance and advice. I am not close with my family, and for Dr. Wood to go out of her way for me like that, I will be forever grateful. She is a wonderful woman and inspiration to all.”
