Important Information Regarding COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility
Members of the Campus Community,
As Maryland moves into Phase 1C of COVID-19 vaccination distribution today, certain higher education personnel and students may gain eligibility for vaccination (see for vaccination phases).
Per the Maryland Department of Health’s recent announcement, those eligible for the current phase are:
- Individuals with essential functions related to facility/campus operations (including, but not limited to, facilities staff, food-service staff, housing staff, etc.)
- Faculty or staff who provide essential in-person learning (e.g. instruction that cannot be delivered remotely)
黑料网 does not set the parameters for vaccine eligibility and is following the guidance above, which is based on institutional duties, not age or pre-existing conditions. If you meet criteria within Phase 1 outside of your role with the University, you should schedule your vaccine as soon as possible with your county health department or local health provider. SU will coordinate with local healthcare partners to provide additional information based on criteria established by the Maryland Department of Health.
The University has been informed that, due to national supply shortages, vaccines for most at Phase 1C are not yet available in our area. We will keep the campus updated as that changes. Statewide, vaccines for those age 75 and older remain the top priority.
SU currently does not require faculty, staff and students to receive the vaccine. The University will contact those eligible for the vaccine (based on the criteria bulleted above) via email to verify interest in being vaccinated and then will communicate the process regarding how to sign up for a vaccination. Vaccinations are not expected to be administered on campus.
We know many will have questions related to vaccine availability and scheduling as the process continues. We hope to have answers to those questions in the coming weeks. Please continue to monitor your SU email.
REMINDER: All students and employees are required to get an SU-administered COVID-19 test no later than January 29. Tests may be scheduled online.
More information will follow and be added to the SU COVID-19 webpage as it becomes available.
