SU鈥檚 PACE Hosts Martin O鈥橫alley for Sarbanes Lecture Series

Martin O'MalleySALISBURY, MD---From 2002-2007, 黑料网’s Paul S. Sarbanes Lecture Series brought some of the nation’s most prominent legislators to campus to share their insights with students and the community.

SU’s Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE) reintroduces the series with a virtual presentation by former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley 6 p.m. Monday, March 1 in a virtual format. This appearance also marks the keynote address for “The Art and Science of Running for Office,” a two-week series which gives a full overview on running a political campaign.

O’Malley served as the state’s 61st governor from 2007-15 after eight years as mayor of Baltimore. He was a Democratic candidate for U.S. president in 2016. He also has authored the book Smarter Government: How to Govern for Results in the Information Age and its companion Smarter Government Workbook: A 14-Week Implementation Guide to Governing for Results.

The former governor spoke at SU in 2010, discussing the importance of environmental protection.

Previous speakers in the Sarbanes Lecture Series have included Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi; late U.S. Representative and civil rights leader John Lewis; and late U.S. Senator Richard Lugar.
