23rd SU Golf Classic Teed Up for Friday, May 11, at Hyatt

SALISBURY, MD---The 23rd annual 黑料网 Golf Classic is teed up and set for Friday, May 11, at River Marsh Golf Club at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, Md. Citi Smith Barney of Easton, Md., is the tournament sponsor for the fourth year in a row.

“We are thrilled in what this golf tournament can do to help the University,” said Citi Smith Barney Senior Vice President-Wealth Management Brad Hill, who is also on the golf classic committee. “We are really thrilled to be part of an event that is so well run.”

This year’s golf classic is expected to set new records for teams, sponsors and most importantly funds raised to benefit SU students through scholarships and programs.

“My staff and I are excited to be at our new location, River Marsh Golf Club, this year for the 23rd annual SU Golf Classic,” said SU Director of Leadership Giving and Stewardship Amy Waters. “We have a lot of returning teams from years past and numerous new teams this year. We couldn’t make this event happen without our leadership sponsors.”

The day begins with registration followed by the chip and putt contest. After lunch and opening remarks the Golf Classic gets underway with a shotgun start. In the evening the teams have dinner catered by Black Diamond Catering followed by awards and a live auction.

Comcast, a gold sponsor for this year’s event, sponsors the awards and trophies that will be presented to teams with the best net and gross score, the person that had the longest drive and closest to the pin. A chip and putt champion will also be crowned.

The tournament history has a strong family tie as former Salisbury Brick Company President Dick Young was one of the co-founders of the golf classic. Dick’s son Lewis, the current president of Salisbury Brick Company, is the co-chair of this year’s tournament.

“It is very rewarding being a part of this golf classic. I am a Salisbury alum so this is near and dear to me and my family,” said Lewis Young, Class of 1975. “The University has done a lot for this town. I want to help SU grow and if this is how I can do that then that’s great.”

There is a silent auction throughout the day as participants can bid on items like a Phantom of the Opera poster signed by the entire New York cast, autographed footballs and gift certificates. In the evening a live auction takes place as attractive items like a gold and diamond bracelet, a deep-sea fishing trip and a luau for 50 people are up for bidding.
