Andy Statman Trio Performs at SU Wednesday, October 16

Andy StatmanSALISBURY, MD---Exploring the roots of klezmer and American bluegrass with improvised jazz, the Andy Statman Trio continues 黑料网’s [R]Evolutionary Road American Masterpieces Tour series 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

A 2012 National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow, Statman has been acknowledged as one of the world’s premier mandolin and clarinet players. The Grammy Award nominee has appeared on more than 100 recordings, including 20 of his own, and performed with musicians including the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Ricky Skaggs, Béla Fleck and Itzhak Perlman.

“Statman is the real thing—a musician’s musician,” raved The New Yorker. Rolling Stone added, “Andy’s music is not bound by denominations, but is a beautiful sound full of heat, heart and a love of God.”

The trio’s engagement at SU is funded through the American Masterpieces Tour program of the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Maryland State Arts Council.
