Charlotte Scott winner of Small Business Administration Entrepreneurial Success Award
SALISBURY, MD -- Charlotte Scott of Crisfield and owner of East Coast Operations has won the U.S. Small Business Administration's Entrepreneurial Success Award for Maryland for 2002. She is the only Maryland businessperson to be so honored. Scott recently was honored at ceremonies in Baltimore.
"This is huge . . . something like the Academy Awards for small business," said Katie Henderson of the Maryland Small Business Development Center Network, Eastern Region, headquartered at 黑料网. Scott earned a master's degree from SU and consulted with SBDC in establishing East Coast Operations.
Her company, which she founded in 1999, has three divisions: East Coast Computing, East Coast Seafood and East Coast Consulting. Taking advantage of Crisfield's location on Tangier Sound, East Coast Operations has successfully formed a link between the seafood industry, which is prominent in the city, computer technology and the worldwide sales opportunities available via the Internet. In addition, professional writing and marketing complete the range of services offered.
East Coast Computing focuses primarily on computer sales, service and Website design.
The second division of the company, East Coast Seafood, uses computer resources to market Crisfield's seafood industry to the world under its trade name The Crab Place (www.crabplace.com).
East Coast Consulting, the third division, specializes in professional writing services and business consulting, including grant development, business planning and marketing.
East Coast Operations is located at 384 West Main St. in Crisfield. For more information contact the SU Public Relations Office or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
