Consortium Recognizes SU for Sloan Semester Participation

SALISBURY, MD---黑料网 recently was honored for its involvement in the Sloan Semester, an online educational outreach program for students displaced by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The program was offered through the Sloan Consortium, the nation’s largest association of colleges and universities for online education. The consortium offered free tuition for some 1,500 displaced students taking online courses at 200 higher education institutions, including SU. In all, students chose from more than 10,000 courses. SU joined this effort as part of a state-wide initiative by Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. and the University System of Maryland.

SU faculty offering courses through the Consortium include Harel Barzilai of the Mathematics and Computer Sciences Department; Debbie Easterling of the Management and Marketing Department; Chrys Egan, Darrell Newton and Paul Scovell of the Communication and Theatre Arts Department; John Egan and Les Erickson of the Biological Sciences Department; Dorothea McDowell of the Nursing Department; and Ed Robeck of the Education Department.
