Delmarva Public Radio Adds 'Folk Alley' to Lineup

Folk AlleySALISBURY, MD---Folk Alley joins Delmarva Public Radio’s (DPR’s) programming lineup on WSDL 90.7 FM in early February.

The show airs 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday on WSDL 90.7 FM.

Produced by WKSU in Kent, OH, the program features acoustically-based music in the genres of contemporary and traditional folk, Americana, Celtic and roots music. Listeners will hear new releases, classics, and exclusive Folk Alley in-studio and live concert recordings.

DPR plans to retain WSDL’s blend of “Rhythm and News,” but Folk Alley will position the station as “adult album alternative (AAA),” a format featuring a broad, diverse playlist.

“Of the five public radio stations on the Delmarva Peninsula, none are programming in the AAA format,” said DPR General Manager Dana Whitehair. “With this change, DPR aims to bring a distinct and unmatched service to the Eastern Shore.

“The music listeners will find on WSDL won’t be found on any commercial or public stations locally. Programs like Folk Alley are vehicles for music discovery, with knowledgeable hosts who will guide you as you discover new music, artists and genres.”

The move also affords DPR’s schedule longer, more consistent blocks of both news talk and music programming, rather than jumping between the two genres throughout the day.

In addition to Folk Alley, WSDL also adds the weekend edition of Fresh Air, Thistle and Shamrock, Conversations from the World Café, Woodsongs, City Arts and Lectures and more.

Listener favorites like Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Delmarva Groove, Vintage Country, Delmarva Today, and World Café will stay on the schedule. Fresh Air will move from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

DPR’s classical station, WSCL 89.5 FM, themed “Fine Arts and Culture,” will remain unchanged.
