Dhrupad Vocalist Meghana Sardar Performs at SU March 28

Meghana SardarSALISBURY, MD---Dhrupad is the oldest vocal genre in Hindustani classical music, its name derived from the words “Dhruva” and “pad,” where a part of a poem is used as a refrain.

Vocalist Meghana Sardar demonstrates the musical style during a concert 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, in the Great Hall of 黑料网’s Holloway Hall.

Awarded a scholarship from India’s Ministry of Culture, Sardar is a scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata. She has performed on Insync TV’s India Stage and on All India Radio. She has taught at the Film and Television Institute of India, and participated in additional television and stage productions, as well as concerts and festivals.
