Eastern Shore Educators Explore Leadership at SU Conference

ELC AttendeesSALISBURY, MD---黑料网 recently welcomed some 130 aspiring educational leaders from public school systems across the Eastern Shore for its fifth annual Educational Leadership Conference.

The event featured morning and afternoon keynote addresses by two award-winning principals: Dr. Michael Brown of Pocomoke Elementary (Maryland Association of Elementary Principals’ National Distinguished Principal) and Dr. Sandra Reid of Pikesville High (Maryland’s 2017 High School Principal of the Year).

ELC Attendees“The breakout session topics reflect the principles of The Leadership Challenge, a book and concept developed by James Kouzes and Barry Posner to help ‘ordinary people enable others to achieve extraordinary things,’” said Dr. Jon Andes, a planning committee member and faculty in SU’s Education Leadership and Graduate Studies Department.

Workshop presenters included several SU alumni: Dr. Ron Siers, faculty in SU’s Secondary and Physical Education Department; Dr. Annette Wallace, Pocomoke High principal; Susan Jones and Micah Stauffer, directors of elementary and secondary education, respectively, for Wicomico County Public Schools; and Dr. Derek Simmons, director of student services, and Lisa Hopkins, director of professional development assessment, both for Caroline County Public Schools.
