Echo-Hawk Presents Live Art Demonstration at SU Thursday, October 30
SALISBURY, MD---Poet, playwright and artist Bunky Echo-Hawk inaugurates 黑料网’s third annual Native American Heritage Month celebration with an interactive live art demonstration 6 p.m. Thursday, October 30, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.
A designer for Nike, Echo-Hawk has exhibited throughout the United States in New York, Chicago, Denver and Santa Fe, as well as Germany. During his SU appearance, he discusses the state of Indian Country today and produces a painting inspired by conversations and input from the audience. The finished work will be displayed on loan at SU.
Echo-Hawk is the co-founder and former executive director of NVision, a non-profit collective of Native American artists, musicians, community organizers and professionals who focus on Native American youth empowerment through multimedia arts. He has raised thousands of dollars for non-profits through his art.
A graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts, he has been the artist-in-residence at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in Indianapolis, IN, and a First Peoples Fund Business in Leadership Fellow. He also has been nominated for the United States Artist Fellowship.
In addition, Echo-Hawk is a traditional singer and dancer of the Pawnee Nation and an enrolled member of the Yakama nation.
