Holladay Continues SU Writers on the Shore Series Apr. 1
SALISBURY, MD---Author Cary Holladay continues 黑料网’s Writers on the Shore series 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in the Montgomery Room of the Commons.
A professor of English at the University of Memphis and director of its River City Writers Series, Holladay is the author of seven volumes of fiction. They include Horse People: Stories; The Deer in the Mirror, winner of the Ohio State University Prize in Short Fiction; A Fight in the Doctor’s Office; The Quick-Change Artist: Stories; Mercury; The Palace of Wasted Footsteps; and The People Down South.
A former Salisbury resident, she also has begun writing a novel about the pirate Blackbeard.
Holladay has been a Distinguished Visiting Writer at Wichita State University. She has received fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Tennessee Arts Commission and National Endowment for the Arts. Her story “Merry-Go-Sorry,” based on the 1994 West Memphis Three murder trials and published in Alaska Quarterly Review, won an O. Henry Prize.
