'Learn with SU' Offers Classes for Ages 50+

SALISBURY, MD---From an interactive book club to day trips to fitness programs, the latest installment of 黑料网’s popular “Learn with SU” series offers something for everyone this spring.

Delmarva residents age 50 and over are invited to take part in this lifelong learning series. Courses are held on campus and in the Maryland and Delaware beach communities.

“We are thrilled to feature 12 classes,” said coordinator Amy Waters, SU’s director of leadership giving and stewardship. “Many are brand new and others are variations of past favorites.  The faculty, staff, alumni and community members who are teaching look forward to seeing returning participants, as well as new faces.”

The series kicks off February 3-4, with two six-week sessions of Tai Chi exercise to promote wellness of the body and mind.  On Thursday, February 5, Healthy U of Delmarva begins an eight-week low impact walking program and Dr. G. Ray Thompson, co-founder of the Nabb Center, leads the workshop “The Voice of the Artifact.”  Other February highlights include “Got Massage?” on Saturday, February 14, and a book signing with Dr. Ben Cassutto, author of The Last Jew of Rotterdam, on Saturday, February 21.

March features a three-part cooking series and two day trips:  “Spice Up Your Day” is Mondays, March 9-23.  A guided tour of Biggs Museum with lunch in historic downtown Dover, DE, is Wednesday, March 11, while an exploration of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge with lunch in Cambridge is Wednesday, March 25.  A six-week stretching and balance fitness program begins Friday, March 27.

The spring series winds down with a retirement seminar led by SU alumnus John Downes, one of the Eastern Shore’s top insurance specialists, on Thursday, April 2; an interactive book club that reads The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch on Mondays April 6 and 27; and a wine tasting with Nassau Valley Vineyards on Wednesday, April 8.
