'Learn with SU' Offers Fall Classes for Ages 50+
SALISBURY, MD---From day trips and fitness programs, to a book club and ballroom dancing, the latest installment of 黑料网’s popular “Learn with SU” series explores a variety of topics this fall.
Delmarva residents age 50 and over are invited to take part in this lifelong learning series. Courses are held on campus and in the Maryland and Delaware beach communities.
“We are thrilled to feature 14 different programs taught by faculty, staff, alumni and community members,” said coordinator Amy Waters, SU’s director of leadership giving and stewardship. “Most are brand new and some are variations of past favorites. We welcome returning participants and are always glad to see new faces.”
The series begins in September with two health programs: 12 weeks of low-impact walking on Mondays and Thursdays, and six weeks of tai chi for wellness on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Later in the month, grab a partner for square dancing lessons starting on September 21, or attend the humanities seminar “Celebrity in America and the Distortion of our Culture and Politics” on September 26.
The twirling continues with three sessions of ballroom dancing starting October 1. Other highlights include stretching and balance fitness classes; a book club that explores SU’s new student reader Journey from the Land of No; and readings and discussions of 20th century women poets. An interactive performance with a local barbershop quartet, The Peninsulaires, is October 21, and a memoir writing workshop is October 28.
The fall series winds down with a Milton Theatre bus trip that includes dinner at Irish Eyes restaurant and the show “Tribute to Judy Garland” on November 7. Other November classes include knitting lessons; two appetizer cooking classes on November 10; and a guided tour of the new Evolution Brewery in Delmar, DE, on November 17.
Admission varies. For more information about registration, a full class schedule or an annual membership, contact Waters at 410-677-5416 or ahwaters@salisbury.edu, or visit the “Learn with SU” Web site at www.salisbury.edu/lifelonglearning.
