PACE Co-Hosts 'Knock, Knock, Who's There: a Citizen?' Presentation
SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Fran Kane, 黑料网 professor emeritus of philosophy and founding co-director of SU’s Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE), returns to campus to discuss civic identity in the 21st century.
His presentation, “Knock, Knock, Who’s There: a Citizen?” is 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, in Conway Hall Room 153.
Drawing on the tradition of western thought reaching back to Aristotle, who in the fourth century declared, “If you are not a citizen, you are not a human,” Kane probes questions of civic identity as it relates to modern students and citizens. He also draws on more recent experiences, noting that what for the Florentines ultimately was a question of love may be only a matter of civility today.
Sponsored by PACE and the Political Science and Philosophy departments, admission is free and the public is invited.
