Pennerman Earns 2005Henry C. Welcome Fellowship
class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Althea Pennerman, assistant professor of education at 黑料网’s Samuel W. and Marilyn C. Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies, recently received a 2005 Henry C. Welcome Fellowship from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), valued at $20,000 over three years.
class=""MsoNormal"">Pennerman comes to SU from the University of South Alabama (USA), where she taught courses in special education instruction beginning in 2003. She earned her Ph.D. in instructional design and development from USA’s Department of Behavioral Studies and Educational Technology that year.
class=""MsoNormal"">She plans to use the fellowship to create a “Closing the Achievement Gap” (C-TAG) center in the Seidel School. The center will focus on verbal reasoning and comprehension of written materials. Pennerman also hopes to form partnerships with schools in Maryland to observe projects relating to closing the achievement gap and disseminate C-TAG information via a dedicated Web site.
