SU Faculty Attend First Year Experience Conference

SALISBURY, MD---Drs. Arlene White and Brain Stiegler of the Department of Modern Languages were part of the Salisbury University Foundations of Excellence team, which included Dr. Melanie Perreault of the History Department; Lawanda Dockins-Gordy, director of New Student Experience and the Guerrieri University Center; and Sandra Cohea-Weible, assistant vice president of Academic Affairs, who recently attended the National Research Center First Year Experience Conference in Atlanta.

Since 1982, the annual First-Year Experience Conference has provided the opportunity for higher educators committed to the success of first-year students to come together to share and discuss current trends and initiatives for successful first-year college and university student programs. More than 1,500 representatives participated from community colleges and four-year institutions throughout the country.

White also recently presented the workshop "Three Centuries of French History" at the spring conference of the Maryland Foreign Language Association, held at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. White is past president of the organization and serves on its board of directors. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu. "
