SU Foundation Awards Faculty Grants
SALISBURY, MD -- The 黑料网 Foundation recently awarded nearly $7,000 in grants to University faculty members.
Recipients from the Henson School of Science and Technology were: Dr. E. Eugene Williams, Department of Biological Sciences, $133 to continue research on DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid beneficial to humans, and its effects on the fish that produce it; Dr. Mary DiBartolo, Department of Nursing, $700 to attend and present a paper on "Coping, Appraisal, Hardiness, and Self-Perceived Health in Spouse Dementia: Caregivers of Persons with Dementia" at the eighth international Alzheimer's Conference in Stockholm, Sweden; Dr. Edward G. Senkbeil, Department of Chemistry, $700 to attend and present a workshop on "Laboratory Demonstrations for Teaching Combustion" at the 17th biannual Conference on Chemical Education.
The recipient from the Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies was Melissa Thomas, Teaching & Learning Network, $700 to attend and present poster reporting results from an empirical study at the Fourth annual WebCT Users Conference in Boston, MA.
Recipients from the Fulton School of Liberal Arts were: Dr. Wayne Ackerson, Department of History, $424 to attend the Faculty Development Seminar in Dakar, Senegal; Dr. Gary Harrington, Department of English, $420 to attend and present a paper on "Division and Doubling in The Tempest" at the Wooden O Symposium in Cedar City, UT; Dr. William C. Horne, Department of English, $530 for research trip to Coppermine River in Nunavut, the Inuit Homeland in Canada's arctic and sub-arctic north; Dr. Dean Kotlowski, Department of History, $208 for research trip to College Park, MD; Dr. Al Witkofsky, Department of Psychology, $530 to continue psychology research; Dr. Marta E. Losonczy, Department of Psychology, $700 to attend the World Association for Infant Mental Health's Eighth World Congress in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Recipients from the Perdue School of Business were Ellen Pettingill, Applied Business Learning Experience Internship Program, $700 to attend and present poster reporting results from an empirical study at the fourth annual WebCT Users Conference in Boston, MA; Dr. Karen E. Papke-Shields, Information and Decision Sciences, $700 to attend the 2002 annual meeting of the Academy of Management in Denver, CO.
The recipient from Student Counseling Services was Veronica Correa, $530 to attend the ninth Congress of the European Society of Hypnosis in St. Thomas Aquinas University in Rome, Italy.
The 黑料网 Foundation, Inc. was created in 1973 to accumulate funds, by gift and investment, and to foster, encourage and enrich the activities, educational programs, athletics and scholarships of SU. It is the intent of the Foundation to promote, sponsor and carry out educational, scientific and charitable purposes and objectives for the benefit of SU and its students.
Currently, the Foundation manages over $31 million in assets for the benefit of SU. Each of the institution's four schools is permanently endowed, a rarity in higher education.
