SU Makes Special Preparations for Weekend Activities
SALISBURY, MD---As 黑料网 looks forward to a weekend of athletics competitions, arts performances and special events such as the Student Research Conference, safety and security remain top priorities. In advance, the University has been engaged in preparations on multiple levels to ensure security, said Dr. Dane Foust, vice president of student affairs:
--The University has been communicating with city officials regarding planning for the weekend.
--SU also is hosting a meeting with representatives from the University, Salisbury and Fruitland police, and the Sheriff’s Office.
--The University’s Safety Task Force is meeting to review preparations and planning.
--The University is communicating with landlords and property managers of those developments which have high concentrations of students to discuss supervision of their properties. SU officials did this prior to last Saturday and many took appropriate steps to guarantee safety.
--SU is reaching out to students in multiple ways. Players on athletic teams have been asked to avoid large gatherings, as have members of student clubs and organizations, including fraternities and sororities. Foust has met with 37 student leaders on Wednesday to hear their perspectives on last weekend and to discuss the best ways assure a positive end to the academic year. He has requested that the Mayor meet with a small group of student leaders. He also is writing a letter to students addressing the upcoming weekend, as well.
--As has been custom, students at SU are expected to abide by a code of conduct, on campus and off. Many students contribute to the community each year through volunteerism and service. In fact the SU Volunteer Center logged 12,000 volunteer hours this year. Often, they will choose to live and work in the region once they graduate. The University takes its relationship with the community seriously. When students are charged with breaking the law, they will be subject to the campus judicial process.
