SU's Fulton Public Humanities Lecture Series Continues with Malinda Lo November 2
SALISBURY, MD---Author Malinda Lo discusses “Representing LGBTQ Characters in Young Adult Literature” as the next speaker in 黑料网’s Fulton Public Humanities Lecture Series.
Her presentation is 7 p.m. Thursday, November 2, in Conway Hall Room 153.
Lo’s novel Ash, a lesbian retelling of Cinderella, was a finalist for the William C. Morris Young Adult Debut Award, Andre North Award for Young Adult Science Fiction and Fantasy, and Mythopoeic Fantasy Award. It also was named a Kirkus Best Book for Children and Teens.
She also has written several other young adult fiction books featuring bisexual and lesbian themes, including Inheritance and A Line in the Dark, the latter scheduled for release this October.
In her talk at SU, Lo provides an overview of the history of LGBTQ representation in young adult literature, as well as her own research on the subject.
