Salisbury Film Society Presents 'A Quiet Passion' April 8

A Quiet PassionSALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury Film Society (SFS) presents the biographical drama A Quiet Passion 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8, in Fulton Hall 111.

Cynthia Nixon portrays Emily Dickinson, personifying the wit, intellectual independence and pathos of the poet whose genius only came to be recognized after her death. Acclaimed British director Terence Davies evokes the manners, mores and spiritual convictions of her time that she struggled with and transcended in her poetry.

Peter Travers of Rolling Stone said, “Cynthia Nixon is simply magnificent as Emily Dickinson in director Terence Davies gentle yet subversively fierce and funny look at the life and art of the great American poet.”   
 
A group discussion follows the screening. The SFS series is co-sponsored by the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council (SWAC) and SU’s Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts.
