Salisbury Film Society Presents 'Embrace of the Serpent' Sunday, May 7

Embrace of the Serpent Movie PosterSALISBURY, MD—The Salisbury Film Society (SFS) presents the adventure drama Embrace of the Serpent 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, in Fulton Hall 111. 

Filmed in black and white, Embrace of the Serpent follows Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and the last survivor of his people. Inspired by the real-life journals of two explorers traveling through the Columbian Amazon, two scientists build a friendship with Karamakate over 40 years while searching for a sacred healing plant.

Kevin Maher of The Times (UK) called the film, “a breathtakingly gorgeous Oscar-nominated drama that caresses your eyes with its visuals as it bangs you over the head with its message.”

The SFS series is co-sponsored by the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council (SWAC) and SU’s Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts. A discussion follows the screening.
